Melissa DeLuca holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Simmons College in Boston, MA, and is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). She completed a post-master’s fellowship providing counseling to veterans, where she implemented cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing techniques with a focus on psychosocial rehabilitation.
As a clinically trained social worker, certified personal trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), and registered USA Boxer, Melissa combines her passion for fitness and boxing with therapeutic approaches to support mental health and overall well-being. Her work integrates physical activity with counseling and program development to enhance individuals’ positive experiences with movement, health, and personal growth.
Melissa is dedicated to providing counseling, guidance, and mentorship to adolescents and adults.
Melissa has been published as part of a collaborative team of social workers and psychologists in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal (2010) on topics related to psychosocial rehabilitation.
She had the opportunity to work at the Los Angeles LGBT Center—the largest LGBTQ+ center in the United States—where she provided management and program development support related to HIV healthcare and mental health services.
Melissa also volunteered in Kolkata, India, assisting with programs dedicated to rescuing and supporting women who had been victims of sex trafficking. In addition, she served as the Director of Youth Services at Youth Pride Incorporated (YPI), the only drop-in center serving Rhode Island’s LGBTQ+ youth.
Outside of her clinical and program work, Melissa has competed in amateur boxing. She has fought in five exhibition matches and four sanctioned bouts, including competitions in the Rocky Marciano Tournament, the Rude Dog Tournament, the Boston National Masters Tournament, and the tournament held at the famous Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn, New York City.
